Cowden made it 2 out of 2 tonight with a narrow victory over Arbroath. Table toppers Alloa crashed to a 3-1 defeat away to Dumbarton so Cowden close the gap at the top to 3 points with a game in hand!
The game did not start well for Cowden though - Paul Lunan headering home from a corner put the Smokes a goal up after 18 minutes.
Cowden piled on the pressure but could only really force a succession of corners which led to nothing. It wasn't until the 62nd minute when top scorer Paul McQuade fired home after being set up by Craig Winter. 195 seconds later and Cowden went ahead! Darren McGregor with his 2nd of the season (and his 2nd in 2 games) to clinch a vital 3 points.
It could have been more in the end when sub John Dempster fired of the post in the dying minutes. All in all a vital 3 points!
