Cowdenbeath continued their stunning run of form to make it 5 wins out of 6 and only 1 defeat in 12 after defeating Dumbarton by 2 goals to 1.
Cowden started with the same lin up as the one that had defeated Clyde the week before but were boosted by the return of Jay Stein and Brian Fairbairn to the subs bench.
Dumbarton started brightly and took an early lead after a uncharacteristic mistake by John Armstrong. Geggan picking up the loose ball and firing home from the edge of the box. Chopper made up for it though by winning a penalty in the 18th minute after being fouled by Murray. Paul McQuade stepped up and slotted the ball home.
The rest of the first half was an even affair and it was no suprise that when the half time whistle went that the scores were still level.
The second half was a different story with the Blue Brazil on top but despite piling on the pressure it seemed that a winner would never come. Danny Lennon through on Fairbairn and Stein which brought another dimension to the Cowden team.
The winning goal came in the 82nd minute; youth star Scott Linton whipped in a superb cross and McQuade was first to react to poke the ball home at the near post. This led to wild celebrations from the Cowden camp and the Dublin Cowdenbeath Supporters Club fans saw their journey made successful!
Dumbarton then had to try and get an equaliser and almost got it but Linton again popped up to clear of the line.
The full time whistle went and Cowden remain top of the league. Unfortunately Stirling go a last minute winner so the two sides are still tied top of the table......and meet next week. I urge every Cowden fan to get a long to Forthbank next Saturday and cheer on their team - the boys on the pitch are producing fantastic performances and results. Lets get right behind them and push on!
Details of the supporters club bus will be on here next week.
