Cowdenbeath battled to a narrow win at home to Montrose on Tuesday night. After a run of 4 games without a win Cowden were determined to get 3 points and a good start was required to provide this.
4 minutes in and Gemmell had his first goal - Fairbairns corner was flicked on by Gemmell past the Montrose keeper to make it 1 nil. Cowden then dominated the proceedings and it was no suprise when goal number 2 came along soon after. Again Fairbairn crossing for Gemmell to header home.
Cowden were on cruise control until Montrose got a break that allowed them back into the game. Coach, Jamie McKenzie(listed as a trialist) thumped a free kick home with the aid of a deflection.
Cowden struggled in the 2nd half but managed to hang on to claim 3 massive points.
Next up is East Stirlingshire at home on Saturday.
