Bairns stay on winning trail

Falkirk recorded their third straight victory in all competitions with a 2-0 home win against Cowdenbeath.

The visitors flew out of the traps, and were unlucky not to take the lead inside the opening minute, when James Stevenson saw his curled effort cleared off the line by Stephen Kingsley.

Steven Pressley's side responded quickly, and Jay Fulton's header would have put them ahead just two minutes later, were it not for Thomas Flynn, who tipped the goalbound effort over the bar.

The Bairns were eventually in front when Kenneth Adamson bundled over Conor McGrandle inside the area, allowing Stewart Murdoch to break the deadlock from the penalty spot after 33 minutes.

Three minutes before the interval, Lyle Taylor fired home Craig Sibbald's cross to double the hosts' advantage.

The Blue Brazil struggled to find a way back into the game, with Mark Ramsay's saved 65th-minute effort their only glimpse of an opening.
