Cowdenbeath kept up their superb run of form with a victory over local rivals East Fife at Central Park on Halloween.
Cowden were quick out the traps and took an early lead through winger Brian Fairbairn. East Fife responded and got an equaliser after 12 minutes through their player manager Stevie Crawford. Less than 2 minutes later and Cowden were back in the lead through Jon Robertson.
Cowden lined up with Davie Hay, Mark Ramsey and Gareth Wardlaw back in the starting 11 and took the lead early on - Jon Robertsons shot was spilled by the East Fife keeper and former East Fife player Fairbairn raced into blast home the rebound.
Cowden were piling on the pressure but were just unable to get a second to kill the game off and were stunned when East Fife scored with their first real chance - Stevie Crawford firing home after some poor defending from a goal kick. The East Fife fans had barely finished their "Cowden song" before the Blue Brazil were back in the lead. Bobby Linn decided he didnt know what team he played for and gave the ball to Robertson who fired home from just outside the box.
That was the last of the scoring and in fairness it should be pointed out that in the 2nd half East Fife were the better team and created many chances but found Davie Hay on top form. 3 more points for Cowden who received another boost through Stirling and Brechin dropping points which leaves Cowden 2nd only 3 points of top.
