Cowden named an unchanged side for this League clash v Albion Rovers. They then served up an unchanged disjointed and disappointing display. The Rovers won 3-1 to defeat Cowden at Cliftonhill for the first time in donkey's years and the travelling support vented their views vociferously at the game's conclusion.
Rovers three goals were all stunners and they fully deserved their victory. There was no doubt that Cowden had the better players but Rovers had the better team. Cowden looked pretty bereft of shape and ideas throughout and their performance was reminscent of many of those that blighted last season. There was a lack of confidence on the park but also no on field leadership when the situation demanded it.
Marek Tomana once again starred with his flair and invention but the use of two big target men Dempster and Gemmell proved ineffective yet again.
Cowdens goal scorer was centre half John Armstrong.
