Cowden were minus 3 players in Craig Winter, John Armstrong and Gareth Wardlaw and were again forced to play Mark Ramsay up front. In a tight game the difference between the 2 teams was the quality of finishing.
The opening 20 minutes saw Cowden struggle to get a grip in the game and it was no suprise when Stenhousemuir opened the scoring and it was former Cowden man Scott Dalziel who got the goal. This spurred Cowden into life and we were level 2 minutes later when Brian Fairbairn fired home after the Stenny keeper had made a good save.
The best chance of the game fell to Pat Scullion but the former Cowden player somehow missed the target. Then controversy as Kenny Adamson was sent-off for a kick on a Stenny player.
Again this spurred us into life and it was no suprise when the winning goal came for Cowden. Scott McBride played a through ball to Paul McQuade who calmly rounded the keeper and rolled the ball into the net.
Full time saw Cowden move 2 points clear at the top of the league. The dream lives on!
