Cowdenbeath returned to winning ways with a comfertable victory over bottom side Elgin last Saturday. The result sets the Blue Brazil up perfectly for a top of the table clash with Stenhousemuir at Central Park.
Elgin had recently knocked Cowden out of the Scottish Cup and it was clear they were hoping for another victory as they took the lead early on. Shallicker chesting and firing home from inside the box.
This woke Cowden up and a crazy 2 minute spell saw Cowden turn the game on its head. First Paul McQuade tapped home after Tomana had knocked Mark Ramsays cross back across the goal. Right after, Derek Fleming floated a perfect free kick for on loan Hearts man John Armstrong to smash into the net.
Cowden were piling on the pressure and it was no suprise when the Elgin keeper was picking the ball out of the back of the net soon after. Jay Shields free kick looked destined for the net before the keeper pulled of a superb save. Fortunately McQuade was once again on hand to knock the ball home. His 6th league goal of the campaign.
The second half went like the first half with Cowden being the better side and creating a host of chance before Armstrong headered home his second of the game.
A much better performance from Cowden and we seem to have finally discovered out scoring touch. A perfect time to find it with the biggest game of the season so far coming up this Saturday.
