A stunning performance from Cowdenbeath meant that they left Dumbarton with all 3 points. Paul McQuade dropped out through injury but his replacement Scott McBride (celebrating his 20th birthday) knocked in 2 goals either side of a Gareth Wardlaw header to secure the win.
Cowden started well and McBride was unlucky to not fully connect to a cross which surely would have opened the scoring. He was terroising the Sons defence and it was no suprise when he opened the scoring, firing home from close range after Steins cross wasnt delt with by the home defence. Cowden pressed forward and Wardlaw was judged marginally offside as his bullet header went inches wide. Another goal was coming and it came from Wardlaws diving header after a superb team move with Fairbairn crossing to the former Raith man.
The final goal was one of the goals of the season with McBride again showing his class. A neat turn took out 2 Dumbarton defenders and he fired home a stunning right foot shot from 25 yards into the keepers top corner.
Cowden then cruised the rest of the game and travelled home with the full points. Highlights are available on Sonstv.
